Thousands of visitors were expected at the Trinity Site, a designated National Historic Landmark that's usually closed to the public.

White Sands Missile Range says the Trinity Site will host an open house from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, inviting guests to visit the site where the first atomic bomb was tested.

Sen. Ben Ray Lujan held a press conference on amendments that passed the Senate to extend reparations to New Mexicans affected by the Trinity Test.
