welcome back to morning joe, it s thursday december 9th. and an adviser to the d triple c. and host of way too early, jonathan lemire joins us as well. we ll start with former trump s white house chief of staff, mark meadows who s now suing house speaker pelosi and the committee investigating the january 6th attack on the capitol came hours after the committee says it will move forward with plans to hold meadows in contempt for ending his cooperation in the investigation. he was going to cooperate, he decided not to. he was a no-show yesterday argued in the lawsuit that the
adviser for the d triple c. and also with us capitol correspondent kasie hunt. also alexi mchammond joins us, she s rejoined the axios political team covering the 2022 midterm elections and jonathan lemire and reverend al sharpton are still with us. curt, looked like an extraordinary night we heard joe biden say america is back but last night it looked like nashville is back and open for business. joe, it sure felt like it. i can t even do justice to what it felt like to look out and see 350,000 plus people just in the celebratory euphoric, joyous mood. you know this being a musician
as the d triple c. it s basically legalized corruption. members are expected to pay certain dollar amounts to get more favorable treatments like some committees have higher dues because if you re on them you can rake in donations through regulation by that committee so here we are a congressman on his way out of the door, they re telling me. [inaudible] inquiring minds want to know. is not just democrats. so let s be clear, every member of congress is elected by the voters, but when you are in congress, the assignment you get or the chairmanship you get, that actually comes from the conference itself so farming to be the conference of ways and means, democrats actually vote for me to it get that chairmanship. you can t be a chairman unless you re in the majority them and you don t get in the majority unless you have money. it s shocking that we spend money in politics.
