Road travel will be at an all-time high for the holiday weekend, despite rising gasoline prices, but the Delaware Valley will get a break from the sweltering heat as temperatures will dip about 20 degrees. An expected 43.6 million Americans will drive to their destinations, the highest on record for this holiday and 5% more than the previous record set in 2019,   the American Automobile Association announced. PennDOT noted that more than 5.7 million people are expected to use the Pennsylvania Turnpike during the weekend and next week. The price of gasoline in Southeastern Pennsylvania on Wednesday ranged from $3.18 to $3.20 a gallon, according to the AAA Gas Prices statewide report. The price in Philadelphia was up about 3 cents a gallon in the past week.
