Ada Limón is the first woman of Mexican ancestry to be named U.S. poet laureate. Through her understanding of social media and the power of connection, she strives to make poetry accessible to everyone.

The most recent U.S. poet laureate, Joy Harjo, was the first Native American to fill the role and she passed the baton to Limón in July 2022.

The first-place winner and recipient of a $200 award is Elizabeth (Lizzy) Soria Ceja, a senior. The second-place winner and recipient of a $100 award is junior Emma Ordonez-Enos.
