Civil Service Award winners: Leading the way to better lives for victims of the Troubles There was no shortage of talented individuals and teams recognised in this year’s Civil Service Awards. In this series, CSW talked to some of the winners about their work and how it felt to win. First up is Chris Atkinson, who won the Inspirational Leadership Award for his work coordinating the delivery of long-stalled plans for a payments scheme to help people left with permanent disabilities as a result of conflict in Northern Ireland. 28 April 2021 Police have discovered class B drugs with a street value of around £150,000 in south Belfast. The drugs were uncovered during the search of a vehicle and a property on Tuesday evening, 27 April. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of committing drugs offences. 28 April 2021 A woman has been arrested in relation to allegations of ill-treatment of patients at Muckamore Abbey Hospital on the outskirts of Antrim. The 52-year-old has been detained in police custody. She is the 16th person to be arrested as part of a major investigation which was launched in 2017. 28 April 2021

Class B Drugs Worth Around £150,000 Discovered In South Belfast Police have discovered class B drugs with a street value of around £150,000 in south Belfast. The drugs were uncovered during the search of a vehicle and a property on Tuesday evening, 27 April. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of committing drugs offences. The 35 year old has been further arrested in connection with the seizure of class B controlled drugs with an estimated street value of £675,000 relating to a joint PSNI/Border Force operation earlier this year.   He has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a number of false identity documents.

Arlene Foster To Step Down As DUP Leader And First Minister Arlene Foster has announced she is to step down as DUP Leader and First Minister of Northern Ireland. She will stand down as DUP Leader at the end of May and First Minister at the end of June. In a statement she said: A short time ago I called the Party Chairman (Lord Morrow) to inform him that I intend to step down as leader of the Democratic Unionist Party on May 28 and as First Minister of Northern Ireland at the end of June. It is important to give space over the next few weeks for the party officers to make arrangements for the election of a new leader.
