Lyon County officials will provide updates on the apparent suicide of Troy Driver, held in connection with the 2022 death of Naomi Irion.

On August 6, 2023, at 1817 hours, deputies assigned to the Lyon County Jail were conducting routine hourly cell checks and conducting inmate head counts when they discovered an inmate who was unresponsive.

The man accused of killing Naomi Irion, an 18-year-old who vanished in March 2022 from a Walmart parking lot in Nevada, committed suicide, according to a news release from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect in the kidnapping and murder of Naomi Irion has been found dead in jail of suspected suicide, Nevada police announced Sunday.

Troy Driver was accused of abducting an 18-year-old woman from a Walmart parking lot in Fernley last year and fatally shooting her at a remote mine site.

Driver was found dead in his cell by apparent asphyxiation. He was alone, the Lyon County Sheriffs Office announced.
