The City of Tuscaloosa has extended restrictions on public access to government buildings and more in response to continually rising cases of COVID-19.
On Monday, City Hall announced that access to all city-owned facilities would be temporarily limited or halted.
This includes a prolonged postponement of Holidays on the River. Initially delayed until Dec. 8, city officials said that it would remain shut down until at least Dec. 17.
The decision comes as DCH Health System reported four straight days of 100 or more inpatients suffering from COVID-19, with a total of 138 listed on Monday. (The city of Tuscaloosa) stands ready to assist DCH with their medical surge plan and the implementation of regulations they believe necessary to protect our healthcare system now and into the future, Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said via Twitter. At this point, there have been no requests, but we stand ready to act swiftly.
