OASIS initiative provides $1 7 million for UCR research projects

UCR's Office of Research and Economic Development (RED) has announced over $1.7 million in competitive funding for faculty research projects through its Opportunity to Advance Sustainability Innovation and Social Inclusion initiative, known as OASIS. The projects range from probing the severity of COVID-19 infection in Riverside County, through sustainability and resilience in agriculture; to finding ways to mine lithium needed for electric car batteries from brine below the Salton Sea.

Womack Foundation sponsors NAACP back-to-school kickoff

CHATHAM, Va. — The Pittsylvania County NAACP Youth Council partnered with the community as they launched their annual Back-To-School Kick-Off with this year s theme of Empowering our Students for Academic Success. The drive-thru event was held at the Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 30. Parents and guardians drove their vehicles through the parking lot of the church, boarded with excited students as they were distributed book bags filled with school supplies, motivational notes and treats from the Danville Community College Knights, encouraging letters and greetings, pertinent information regarding the opening of school and noteworthy resource information to assist parents and students throughout the year.
