As per the government new order, the tech companies including WhatsApp, Facebook, Google and others were required to appoint chief compliance officer, nodal officer and grievance officer from India.
Even after three months of the notification of new IT rules, Twitter is yet to designate India-based Chief Compliance Officer, Nodal Contact Person & Grievance Officer, the notification stated
The Centre on Saturday, 5 June, served a “one last notice” to Twitter to immediately comply with the new IT Rules, saying that failure to do so will result in the withdrawal of the exemption from liability available under Section 79 of the IT Act.
