Davenport, Iowa – Despite a one-hour and four-minute delay in the top of the seventh inning, the Quad Cities River Bandits cruised behind 15 hits to an 11-3 win over the South Bend Cubs on Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park.
The Bandits instantly struck for offense against Cubs’ starter, Blake Whitney who allowed both Maikel Garcia and Eric Cole to reach on singles to start the bottom of the first and paid the price when Seuly Matias mashed a three-run homer to give his team the early 3-0 lead.

Trevor Williams made a rehab assignment today and it went well. Williams faced seven batters over two innings and the only one to reach was hit by a pitch. Williams struck out two. He threw 32 pitches and 22 were strikes.
Justin Steele also made a rehab appearances. He pitched the seventh inning and gave up the Storm Chasers’ only run of the game on a solo home run. But that was the only baserunner he allowed in his inning of work. Steele did not strike anyone out.
Nico Hoerner played three innings at second base in a rehab assignment. He was 1 for 2 at the plate.
