A woman is in the Black Hawk County Jail with her boyfriend after an alleged plan to help him escape from custody failed. Twenty-three-year-old Donsque Donston of Cedar Rapids and Columbus, Ohio is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. Deputies learned of Donston’s plan to free her boyfriend, 28-year-old Tyrone Copeland, while the two discussed details on the jail’s recorded phone system. Investigators say Donston planned to help Copeland escape during his scheduled transport to a local medical appointment. Deputies arrested her outside the hospital. Copeland has been jailed since December 12
th awaiting extradition to Franklin County, Ohio.

On Tuesday, deputies charged 23-year-old Donsque Donston with conspiracy to commit a felony. A judge set her bond at $25,000. Authorities said Donston provided a Cedar Rapids address when she was taken into custody, but also listed a home address in Columbus, Ohio.
Black Hawk County sheriff s officials said deputies learned of Donston s plan to free her boyfriend, 28-year-old Tyrone Copeland, when the two allegedly discussed the details while talking to each other on the jail s recorded phone system. In a press release, authorities said the recordings of the conversation revealed specific information on when and how the escape would happen.

A Cedar Rapids woman has been arrested for attempting to help her boyfriend escape custody in Black Hawk County, according to KWWL. 23 year old Donsque Donston has been charged with Conspiracy to Assist a Jail Inmate Escape. Her boyfriend, Tyrone Copeland, was scheduled for a medical transport from the Black Hawk County Jail to Allen Hospital. Donston arrived at the hospital just before the medical transport arrived and would act as the getaway driver. The plan, however, was discovered when deputies reviewed phone conversations between the two recorded by the jail inmate phone recording system. Donston is being held on a $25,000 bond. Copeland is awaiting extradition to Franklin County, Ohio.

Three men were arrested at a mobile home park in Waterloo over the weekend, according to KWWL. At least two of the men were arrested on warrants out of Ohio. Those arrested were 19 year old Darian Slaise, 17 year old Juan Freeman, and 28 year old Tyrone Copeland. Copeland has been charged with 4
th degree criminal mischief and is being held on a $1,000 bond. It is unclear what charges the other two are facing or the circumstances surrounding those charges.
