The Last Angel Of History, John Akomfrah’s experimental documentary released in 1996, the narrator is a “badboy scavenger poet-figure” known as the Data Thief. Roaming through history, the Data Thief gathers “techno fossils”, fragments of culture from different epochs, with which he hopes to be able to decode the future.
