Here’s a show of athleticism. The Mitsusbishi Triton Athlete was recently featured in a video by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia showcasing the pick-up truck’s handling prowess in a closed course, with a ‘tame racing driver’ at its controls and with a passenger on board for the joyride.
Having been launched in Malaysia earlier this month, the Triton Athlete appears to be a hit with online audiences as well, having received more than two million views so far. Described as the “embodiment of toughness refined,” the pick-up truck’s visual cues certainly lend an added air of toughness, with gloss black exterior trim joined by off-roading graphics courtesy of its decals.

The pick-up truck scene in Malaysia is seriously heating up, and it is especially competitive at the top end, with modes like the Nissan Navara Pro-4X, Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain, and the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete. All of them are priced at around RM142k, and they look really good, too!
Our focus this time is on the Triton Athlete, which officially replaces the Triton Adventure X as the new range-topper. It’s available in the Sun Flare Orange Pearl colour you see here, as well as White Diamond and Jet Black Mica. Aesthetically, it gets a big black Dynamic Shield nose with gloss black under garnish, gloss black radiator grille, side mirror caps, door handles, side steps, and 18-inch wheels.

Teased last week, the new Mitsubishi Triton Athlete was officially unveiled by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) this morning in a virtual launch. The Triton Athlete is the new flagship model of the Triton range, replacing the Triton Adventure X as the range topper.
Described by MMM as the “embodiment of toughness refined”, the Triton Athlete is marked by an aesthetic package that’s hard to miss. There’s a big black Dynamic Shield nose consisting of a gloss black under garnish and gloss black radiator grille. This black section replaces the regular Triton’s silver trim and chrome cheekbones. In Thailand, the Athlete has Mitsubishi script embossed below the diamond logo – we don’t get double branding.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) released a teaser for a new variant of the Triton pick-up truck, which is set to join the local model line-up next week via a virtual launch.
Though most of its exterior details remain hidden in the dark, the Triton depicted in the image can be seen to wear items such as the skid plate that slightly protrudes from the base of the front bumper relative to the regular model, while the top of the cargo tray appears to wear a styling bar.
These point to the Triton Athlete that was launched in Thailand at the end of 2019. The Triton Athlete for Thailand featured a range of dealer-installed accessories, and these were priced at 32,000 baht (RM4,425) in the country at the time.
