The 31-year-old grabbed 5-17 to keep Pakistan down to 144-7 in 20 overs

Thats what it says. Why dont you just accept it? And why are people surprised to see this? Its not happening from just 5 or 6 years. Its been happening for 15 to 20 odd years. No good opener after Saeed Anwar. We can play what we have.I think that is a defeatist attitude. Even if there is no obvious candidate, why not experiment? I can think of former middle order players who can handle pace bowlers better than some of the specialist openers we have currently. Kamran Akmal? Umar Akmal? Sarfara...

“ After Pakistan lost to India in a World Cup match yet again in 2019, I wrote the aforementioned line in a column and it hit home for a number of Dawn readers. A year and a half later, a situation arose recently that further reinforced the point. The point being that the Pakistan cricket team is plagued by much of the same problems we find elsewhere around us. The name of Mohammad Hafeez, who is in the form of his life, was absent in the Pakistan squad announced by selectors on Sunday for ...

But the video purportedly showing these women mocking their employee met the ire of social media users for a reason. It hit too close to home. The ‘banter’ was no longer between an employer and employee; it was a public dispute reincarnated by those who take so much pride in their knowledge of a second language that they dub it superior to their own – excluding themselves from the majority as the ‘educated niche’. The belief is so deep-rooted - the apology, so paper-thin. And that, pe...

0 Thread(s) This comparison is premature not only by lack of visible comparison, but also by team character. Haider Ali is to perform a far more different role for the Pakistan team as opposed to Shubman Gill. Gill takes his time and looks easy on the eye with immaculate stroke play. Haider, when he starts middling the ball, looks very elegant and flambuoyant. If you want to compare them at this stage, Shubman is far, far ahead. That being said, Id be happy to see Haider get game time, pr...

troodon He is overrated. But he is the best we got. Someone who can bowl in 140s and contribute with the bat low down the order. Show me another player who can do the same that he doing in world cricket right now apart from Stokes? He is only 23 and has a lot of upside. He is showing improvement with every series. That is all matters at this stage. I agree that his hitting ability against genuine pace bowlers is poor. But who can hit Cummins and Coulternile for sixes in world cricket? From what...

4 Thread(s) The beginning of this thread has just been like the epic (nd closed lol) Umar Akmal vs Virat Kohli thread. Anyway, i quite liked Junior and even Azhar. Azhar being technically correct isnt bound to fail that often, will have a proper career. Pujara however will have to bring it outside India no doubt. In India, you will always get someone whod look invincible against the best of them. Remember how Wasim Jaffer hammered Akhtar co? For all the excitement currently, its well unde...
