GENEVA (AP) — Seeking to resolve a years-long dispute with Olympic officials, the International Boxing Association said on Monday it will update the IOC this week and no longer has Russian energy giant Gazprom as a sponsor.

The International Boxing Association has published a list of "eligible" boxers, including Russians and Belarusians, for the European Games in Kraków-Małopolska, even though athletes from that country are banned from the event and the governing body have no involvement in organising the competition.

IBA said that it has banned the National Federation of the United States, USA Boxing, from participation in its competitions, following USA Boxings formal withdrawal from the IBA.

LONDON: A group including the US and Britain announced a new world boxing federation on Thursday in a breakaway aimed at securing the troubled sport’s Olympic future. Leaders of Swiss-registered World Boxing told a news conference they would seek recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

With representation from the United States and Great Britain, the organization was created with the objective of “keeping boxing at the heart of the Olympic movement” and seeking to “guarantee the interests of boxers”. Today, the sport is out of the Los Angeles 2028 program.
