Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) has partnered with British Columbia (BC) Transit to implement its Umo platform as BC Transit's new automated fare collection system in the Victoria Regional Transit System.

SAN DIEGO, August 01, 2023--Cubic Transportation Systems announced that the Umo platform is the new automated fare collection system for the Salem Area Mass Transit District.

The Milwaukee County Transit System’s new East-West Bus Rapid Transit line (BRT) delivered 16,800 rides during its first week of service, according to ridership figures released Wednesday by MCTS.

With a transit funding crisis looming in the background, local, state and federal officials turned out Monday to celebrate the launch of Milwaukee County Transit System’s East-West Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line.

While Milwaukee County officials and other local dignitaries were at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially launch Milwaukees first bus rapid transit route - called CONNECT 1 - I was out giving the route a little test run.

Passengers can ride the new CONNECT 1 free from June 4 through Sept. 30.

The fare payment business has changed over the last few years, and the biggest change has come in the form of unifying the systems. The process comes with its benefits and challenges, but cities across the nation are recognizing the importance.

When Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) launches its new CONNECT 1 Bus Rapid Transit line service on June 1, ridership will be free through Sept. 30.

Adult fares will be capped at $4 per day or $72 per month under the new system.
