As part of its community development efforts, the global organisation of young active citizens with presence in over 100 countries, flagged off a Green City Project aimed at combating climate change.
The tree-planting campaign, led by Adéọlá Adelabu, the JCI Ibadan chapter president, was launched at Mount Olivet Secondary School and Bishop Onabanjo school, both located in the Bodija-Ashi area of Ibadan.
Members of JCI Ibadan were joined by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths and Sports, Hon Kazeem Bolarinwa and Dr (Mrs) Amadi who represented the Director-General of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN).
Prior to planting the trees, students and staff of the schools were given a short orientation of the importance of trees to the environment and the need to sustain such, with the students expressing commitment to tendering the trees till they mature. Each tree was named after the particular students.
