The family of a young trans woman who took her own life waiting for gender-affirming care have called for changes to the trans healthcare system, describing it as “not fit for purpose”. Alice Litman, 20, was found dead on 26 May, 2022 at Undercliff Walk in Brighton. An inquest heard her mental health declined as she waited 1,023 days for gender-affirming care. Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, her father Peter Litman said: “It’s quite obfuscated really how bad waiting lists are. If you were referred today, you’d actually be waiting for over 20 years for your first appointment.”
