explosion of the only bridge connecting russia with the annexed territory of crimea. now, the blast partially collapsed the kerch bridge and paralyzed a key supply route from moscow s faltering war in ukraine. but this bridge isn t just logistically important, it s also a huge symbol for the kremlin in its attempt to reunify crimea with the russian mainland. ukraine has not claimed responsibility for this, but after the blast in kyiv, people can be seen taking selfies in front of a billboard depicting the image of the bridge on fire. that s not the only thing you re seeing from ukraine mocking the explosion. fred pleitgen joins us now. fred is in kyiv. he has the latest developments. what are you hearing, fred, about who s behind this explosion. reporter: yeah, well, the russians are moving very quickly to point the finger of blame at the ukrainians. this is quite interesting because i ve been following a lot of telegram channels coming out of russia. a lot of top russian
the ukrainians. so far the ukrainians have not claimed responsibility. in fact, one senior adviser to the volodymyr zelenskiy, hinted he believes tf an inside job within the russian security services but unclear who is behind it. we can see on our screens that massive explosion that took place in the early morning hours. the russian investigative committee, the russians say is on the scene and has been working. they say that an explosion occurred at a truck, that a truck blew up and that that explosion sort of caused the chain reaction because there was a train carrying fuel going past that area of the bridge at that point in time. several fuel tanks catching fire, blowing up as well. that s what that big fire that we see now with that thick black smoke going out there for a very long period of time before the russians were able to put that out. the status right now seems to be it s quite interesting because you mentioned this, fredricka, that the russians are saying that t
let s go right to foreign correspondent kelly cobiella. just a tragic story today out of thailand. at least 22 children at that daycare were killed in this attack. several more are injured, which is why dozens, if not hundreds are people are lining up to donate blood in the area of thai wand really in shock in what is the deadliest mass killing in the country s history. all of this played out at lunchtime local time, about 12:30. it was nap time for the kids at the daycare center when this gunman came in. police say he was agitated when he couldn t find his own child at the school. one witness said that he actually shot his way into a locked room where the children were sleeping. police also tragically say that most of the children were stabbed not shot. the youngest victim about 2 years old. a gunman then fled in his own car. he was firing is and driving into people as he fled. once home they say he killed his wife and child before turning the gun on himself. lis are not t
