Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh had imposed a ban on construction activity for one week. The decision was taken after the air quality index in several areas crossed the 300 mark during the Diwali period.

Curbs to be enforced from Thursday; currently there are over 1,500 construction sites across the city.

PMC officials said the air quality in Pune has not reached an alarming level when compared to that in other cities of the country.
