The Sri Lankan Navy on Saturday arrested 37 Indian fishermen in two separate incidents for crossing the maritime border. This came at a time when Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin urged Union minister S Jaishankar to secure the release of 12 fishermen arrested by the Maldives Coast Guard.
Stalin said the 12 detained fishermen had ventured into the sea for fishing on October 1 from Tharuvaikulam Fish Landing centre in Thoothukudi District, and were detained thereafter.
