The release of pending funds for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in West Bengal will be dependent on the Centre s satisfaction with the transparency of the scheme s implementation, according to Union Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh. The state government has accused the Centre of not releasing funds for almost two years. The Centre has alleged corruption in the implementation of the scheme in the Trinamool Congress-ruled state. Singh also mentioned achievements in other rural development schemes, including the goal of two crore "Lakhpati Didis" by the end of this year.
The pending MGNREGA funds for West Bengal will be issued when the Centre is satisfied with the "transparency" in the implementation of the scheme, Union Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh said on Friday.
