These buildings. what does that tell you? >> well, i think anderson cooper had it right. theres a lot of rubble there. and it isnt clear that once they get the electricity to the pumps that are in those buildings that the pumps will work. and if the pumps work, its not clear that the pipes that are connected to them will work. so getting the electricitys critical, but its not game over at that point. its a real big question about whether or not theyll be able to get water in. on unit 4 this pict...

Water that came in and prevented any of the back-up coolant operations from going forward? >> thats precisely right. the whole issue is trying to keep that reactor cool. as we have discussed before, its like an ovp. if i put a pan in the oven, it gets hot. if i shut off the oven and i go in and reach for that pan, im going to burn myself because the pan is still hot even though the oven was turned off. the plant was shut down but its still generating heat. the tsunami knocked out all the back-up...
