BOSTON – The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be sending more than $1.8 million to the State of Vermont to reimburse the University of Vermont Medical Center for the cost of hiring temporary staff to handle increased patient loads during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To adjust for staffing shortages, nearly all (99 percent) of nursing home providers are asking staff to work overtime or extra shifts. More than 70 percent have hired temporary agency staff.
