The diplomatic friction among member countries of the UN Security Council (UNSC) in settling for a lasting ceasefire in the current conflict in Gaza hasn t led to any constructive end. However, the efforts of Russia, the UAE, and a few Arab countries to ensure a humanitarian ceasefire are sabotaged by the US.
The final draft watered down language from “demands” to “calls” for humanitarian pauses, and for “the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas and other groups.”
Russia and China voted in favour of the resolution while there were no countries voting against it. India and the remaining Security Council members abstained.
