Uttar Pradesh registered the highest single-day rise in COVID-19 cases as well as fatality count, with the disease claiming 129 more lives, while 30,596 fresh cases pushed its tally to 8,51,620.
Briefing reporters in Lucknow, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said in the last 24 hours, 30,596 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from the state, while 9,041 patients recovered from the disease.
A total of 6,50,333 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered from the disease in the state, he added.
With the 129 fresh fatalities, the death count due to the viral disease rose to 9,830, the official said.

People employed with the continuous process industries and those producing essential items like medicines and sanitisers in Uttar Pradesh will be allowed to go to work during the 35-hour weekly closure from 8 pm today until 7 am on Monday, an official said.
The state government also said that marriages on Saturday and Sunday will take place amid restrictions with only 50 people in closed spaces and 100 in open spaces, adidng, organisers will have to ensure COVID-appropriate behaviour.
This is the third straight day when the state has reported a record rise in COVID-19 cases. As many as 22,439 fresh cases were recorded on Thursday and 20,510 on Wednesday.

People without face masks will not be allowed to enter Mathura temples, says DM
Adhering to COVID-19 norms has been made mandatory for devotees visiting temples in Brijbhumi here amid rising coronavirus cases, officials said on Saturday.
Nobody would be allowed to enter any temple of Mathura, Vrindavan, Goverdhan, Barsana and other areas without wearing a face mask and maintaining required distance, District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal said.
He said surprise checks have already started in the temples.
Parikrama for devotees at Dwarkadhish temple has been banned with restricted entry at a time in the temple, Rakesh Tewari, media in-charge of the temple, said.
