Ups Workers Strike News Today

Next week, the contract between 340,000 unionized workers and UPS expires. Workers authorized a strike and say they are ready to walk if the Teamsters and UPS can’t reach a deal. The labor dispute could lead to the largest strike in U.S. history against a single employer and cause massive disruption in the shipping industry and beyond. Stephanie Sy reports on how the battle lines are being drawn.

If the union and UPS don’t reach an agreement by the end of July, UPS workers could join the nation's second-largest single-employer strike in U.S. history come Aug. 1.

With a little more than three weeks until UPS workers’ threatened strike date arrives, businesses that rely on the nation’s largest package carrier have been considering their plan Bs.

UPS and the employees union have been engaged in contract talks since April. Some of the demands include less overtime, air conditioning in delivery trucks and changes to pay scales.
