Restoration of Lansdowne Building, Devaraja Market after Court s verdict

Bengaluru: Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj said that restoration of 129-year-old Lansdowne Building and 137-year-old Devaraja Market in Mysuru will be taken up only after the receipt of report from the Special Heritage Committee as well as final orders of Karnataka High Court. He was answering to questions raised by Chamaraja MLA L.Nagendra on whether the State Government intends to conserve or demolish two iconic structures in Mysuru during the Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. The Minister said the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has already adopted a resolution seeking demolition of Devaraja Market and re-building the same in heritage style. However, recommendation by the Heritage Committee was quite contradictory and favoured restoration than its demolition. In between, a few have moved the Court questioning the market demolition. District Minister goes on an inspection-spree

Mysore/Mysuru: District Minister S.T. Somashekar went on an inspection-spree in city yesterday to review civic amenities in newly-formed layouts. Somashekar first visited the 13 MLD capacity overhead tank built in Vijayanagar Fourth Stage for supply of water to the residents of the locality. As the officials explained that the height of the pumping motor fixed at the site was posing a problem for water supply, the Minister directed them to lower the level of the pump in accordance with the requirement. He asked the officials to finish the civil works needed for the purpose in a month. After the inspection, the Minister interacted with members of the public, during which Vijayanagar residents poured out their grievances. The residents complained about indiscreet dumping of construction debris and other wastes along the Ring road passing through the layout, overgrown bushes and trees along the road which has posed problems for motorists, potholed roads and many other civic issues c

₹ 170 crore sought for road development Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Chairman of Ballari Urban Development Authority (BUDA) Dammur Shekhar met Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj at Tinthini in Yadgir district on Wednesday and sought ₹ 170 crore funds for the development of road connecting the National Highway 63 from the northern part of Ballari to the proposed airport. In a media release, Mr. Shekhar said that the project received administrative approval in 2011 and the project cost was ₹ 110 crore at that time. “The project was not implemented for various reasons. Meanwhile, the project cost has escalated to ₹ 170 crore. I have requested the Urban Development Minister to release the required funds under special grants,” Mr. Shekhar said.
