Researchers at IIT-Hyderabad are working on an Urban Flood Information System (UFIS) to reduce the impact of urban flooding in Hyderabad. The team aims to collect and analyze flood-related data, simulate rainfall, study flood depth and extent, and develop solutions for policymakers and stakeholders. UFIS integrates meteorological, hydrological, and stakeholder-relevant aspects to enhance flood awareness and minimize the impact of floods.
Floods in Sikkim: The 7,000-odd tourists-3,000 among them from Bengal-who were stuck in Sikkim following the Teesta's flash flood in Lachen Valley early on Wednesday, were safe and getting help from the Indian Army and local administration, Sikkim government said on Thursday.
