As per the official data released by the Government of India last year, nearly 4,65,791 students were present in the US on study visa in 2022.

The Free Press Journal had earlier reported that the US Mission in India is planning on beginning its study visa appointments from June 1, with the slots for the same being available till mid-July.

The announcement comes as thousands of students in India prepare for the Fall intake with the US Consul General in Mumbai Mike Hankey stating to reporters last month that the country is aiming to increase visa interview appointments for Indian students by 30% this summer.

With the Fall 2023 intake nearing for many students who are going to apply for their J-1 visa, the US Consulate General in Mumbai led by Consul General Mike Hankey will be conducting a student visa session on Friday, April 14 at 2:30 PM.

The pass also allows the holders to work in multiples companies at the same time, the country's manpower minister said.
