The co-founder and CEO of streaming giant Netflix is gifting $3 million to Robert Morris University in order to fund 20 full scholarships for students from underrepresented groups who want to pursue careers in technology or math.
According to a press release from the university, the RMU Next Century Scholarships will be open to applicants from underrepresented groups and others who demonstrate a commitment to empowering members of underrepresented groups, combating stereotypes, and enabling others to better understand persons of different races, ethnicities, or other traits.
The 20 scholarships will be open to qualified applicants pursuing degrees in computer and information systems; cybersecurity; data analytics; actuarial science; mathematics; statistics and predictive analysis; computer science; and user experience user interface design (UX-UI).
