Capitalizing on a boom in the nation's semiconductor industry following the passage of the 2022 CHIPS Act, the University of Utah has launched the Utah Network for Integrated Computing and Semiconductor Research and Education (UNICOS).

Utah Aerospace and Defense Association announced a rebrand that honors the industrys pioneers in Utah and focuses on the organizations expanding vision. The organization will now be called 47G.

The organization’s new name, 47G, pays tribute to the pioneers who settled Utah in 1847 and the “test pilots who shattered the barriers of speed.”
