A government spokeswoman told The Associated Press on Friday that the 25-year sentence was commuted by presidential order after a request for clemency.
The group resurfaced more than a year ago and has been accused of killing civilians and seizing land in eastern Congos Rutshuru territory.The panel said it also found substantial evidence of support given to several Congolese armed groups by members of Congos military, known as the FARDC, in Rutshuru.
