V Legislative Session News Today

In the first week of the 2024 West Virginia legislative session, bills moving on from the Senate to the House include: Senate Bill 143: Relating to the arming of guards in schools; Senate Bill 146: Funding of adult learning centers; Senate Bill 148: Autorenewal for the states wildlife licensing; Senate Bill 162: Addressing food insecurity in summer and non-school periods during the year.

Approved by the West Virginia state Senate on Jan. 12, 2024, without opposition, just two days into the 2024 regular legislative session, Senate Bill 171 would bar county commissions from adopting any ordinance, rule, license requirement or other authorization stricter than state law, rule or regulation regarding agricultural operations.
