As of Friday, over 10,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Waterloo Region.
In addition to health care workers, the health unit started vaccinating long-term care residents via mobile clinics this week, and that work will continue with the current supply.
For that reason, the vaccination clinic at Grand River Hospital will be closed for the next four days and reopen on Tuesday.
This decision to pause the clinic utilizes the following principals, according to the local Vaccine Distribution Task Force:
Use up the vaccine supply as it comes in
Prioritize long-term care and retirement home residents
Ensure there is enough for second doses
