India has many different languages, cultures, and traditions. Each place has its own mother tongue, like Kumaoni in the Kumaon region and Marathi in the south. Our mother language is not just for talking—it s part of who we are. When we read, talk, and write in our mother tongue, more people can enjoy books. Today, on International Mother Language Day, Parag, an initiative by Tata Trusts, gives the Big Little Book Award (BLBA) to five Indian authors who write great children s books in their mother tongue.
