Scouts need help to fill the food bank
Carl Kieke
I could use some help this weekend from any of my readers who may be in Abilene.
Until a few years ago, Boy Scouts ran a food drive for Food Bank of West Central Texas in early November. For several reasons, it ran its course and was discontinued.
This year it returns, but in a different format. Instead of going door-to-door, youth groups are setting up in front of Abilene’s United Supermarkets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
There aren’t enough scout units in Abilene to cover all stores all day. So the opportunity is being offered to Girl Scouts, 4-H, Trail Life Boys and American Heritage Girls.
