In the latest attacks, four trucks were torched at about 5.30am on the N2 between Piet Retief and Ermelo

Allowing this anarchy, has become a hallmark of the dysfunctional ANC policing services without any explanations forthcoming from police minister Bheki Cele or his colleague responsible for inland home security.

Just hours after six trucks were set alight on the N3 in what has been described as "a co-ordinated attack on the road freight sector", another five were torched under similar circumstances in Mpumalanga.

The available evidence suggested the recent spate of attacks and burning of trucks in Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal were organised, coordinated and sophisticated.

The incident comes after at least sixteen trucks attacks in three different provinces over the past five days

The National African Farmers Union said that the attacks threaten the supply chain of food and crop-related goods to both the local and international markets.

Deputy president Paul Mashatile says the state security agency knows who is behind the torching of trucks, adding that the government was “on top of things”.

Police Minister Bheki Cele is scheduled to address the media later on Wednesday about a plan to address the attacks.

Footage has emerged of a truck being set alight after a truck driver was forced out of his vehicle by an arsonist in Mpumalanga on Wednesday morning.

The police are out in full force protecting national freeways against further attacks on trucks after 21 vehicles were torched this week
