Management of the N3 Toll Concession said on Friday evening that traffic congestion due to a protest on the highway between Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal will take some time to clear.

The failure by the government to provide feedback on November 3 to small truck operators regarding the employment of foreign drivers in SA resulted in the blockade of the N3 near Van Reenen on Friday.

An early morning truck blockade on the N3 Toll Route between Johannesburg and Durban has disrupted traffic on Friday.

N3 Durban bound and Johannesburg bound at Van Reenen's both directions are closed to traffic due to a truck blockade. Traffic is being diverted to alternative routes. SAPS is on scene and attempts are underway to remove the trucks.

There has not been any indication as to when the N3 near Van Reenen's Pass congestion will be resolved following incidents of truck drivers parking their trucks on the highway and removing the keys.
