Henry Van Thio misses third successive meeting on expiry of emergency rule after reportedly falling downstairs at home in Naypyitaw.

On the day of the Myanmar junta’s meeting of the National Defense and Security Council (NDSC), just ahead of the two-year anniversary of the coup, Second Vice President Henry Van Thio was rushed to Naypyitaw General Hospital with a head and neck injury, according to sources close to Naypyitaw.  

Though most had never heard of ethnic Kachin Duwa Lashi La, who heads the National Unity Govt, before the coup, Myanmar people have embraced him as their leader.
