Publisher Pete Mohs says being recognized by industry peers is a nice compliment, but what’s even more important is approval from our readers.

The Dispatch received a total of 44 awards, including 21 first-place finishes to become the smallest newspaper to claim the Vance in the almost 40-year history of the trophy.

“We appreciate the daunting work of the judges in the Better Newspaper Contest, but we know what is most important is the feedback and support from our readers and the communities we serve.”

The Minnesota Newspaper Association elected officers and board members for 2023 at its annual convention in Brooklyn Park on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023.

The Dispatch earned a total of 31 awards in the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Better Newspaper Contest.

The Forum Communications newspapers received accolades in the 2022 Better Newspaper Contest.

The newspaper was honored in several categories: general excellence, reporting advertising, editorial page, sports, headline writing, photography and more.
