Kochi/Coimbatore: A day after seizing fake currencies to the tune of Rs 1.8 crore and arresting two men, the Kerala police on Thursday arrested two more people involved in the case in the city.
The two men arrested on Thursday were identified as Mohamed Rishad, 30, from Karumbukadai and Azharuddin, 28, from Vasantham Nagar in Podanur. The two as well as Syed Sultan and Ashraf Ali who were arrested on Wednesday night were produced in a court here to obtain a transit warrant so that they can be taken to Kerala for further interrogation.
So far, the Kochi city police along with the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) of the Kerala police had seized fake currency to the tune of Rs 1.8 crore from Coimbatore in a joint operation and arrested five people, including Rasheed from Thrissur.

A special team of the Kerala Police from Kochi arrested two more persons from Coimbatore early on Thursday in connection with the seizure of ₹1.8 crore in counterfeit notes from a resident of Al Ameen Colony here on Wednesday.
Police sources said that S. Azharuddeen alias Ashraf (28) of Vasantham Nagar on Podanur Main Road and Mohammed Rishad (30) of Karumbukadai were arrested in the early hours of Thursday.
Officials rescue 27 A.P. youth brought for distributing money
The election authorities seized ₹91.67 lakh found abandoned near the premises of AIADMK candidate in Ranipet on Saturday night and also rounded up 27 youth who were brought from Andhra Pradesh to distribute money to the voters in the constituency.
Ranipet Sub-Collector and Returning officer K.Elambahath received information from a caller, who alleged that 30 youth brought from Andhra Pradesh for distributing money, were illegally confined at a premises and tortured by the political functionaries, following alleged misappropriation of ₹13 lakh.
The official ordered a flying squad team to conduct a search on the said premises.
