The body of a 30-year-old man was found hanging in his room on business premises in Redcliffe, Verulam today (Saturday).
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Verulam Operations Centre received a call for assistance after a work colleague made the discovery. RUSA Members were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:28 and on arrival found the individual hanging by a rope from a rafter in his room. He was declared deceased on arrival of Medics.
The motive for the suicide has not been established at this stage.
52-year-old Dayalan Vadiveloo Pillay also known as Bull was shot and killed in an unprovoked attack in Canelands near Verulam – Kwazulu Natal this afternoon (Tuesday).
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Verulam Operations Centre received multiple calls from residents of an area popularly known as Thunder Town requesting assistance for the seriously injured man.
Reaction Officers and Paramedics arrived on scene at approximately 19:17 and located the victim seated on a sofa under a wooden shelter next to the driveway. He sustained a single gunshot wound to his head and was declared deceased by Medics.
It is alleged that the gunmen walked up to the Pillay and shot him without warning. This could not be confirmed. Witnesses did confirm that two men were seen walking away from the vicinity after they heard the gunshot go off. Several residents gathered at the scene to comfort the deceased’s family.
