As part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda, the US Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a historic US$169 million for nine projects to accelerate electric heat pump manufacturing at 15 sites across the country.

The US DOE has selected nine projects for funding support of $169 million to expand the manufacturing of electric heat pumps.

The awards were granted under the emergency authority of the Cold War-era Defense Production Act (DPA), which Biden invoked on the basis of climate change to boost spending on green tech.

The selected projects, which have not been finalized, would be the first awards coming out of DOE’s use of the Defense Production Act (DPA) to increase domestic production of five clean energy technologies, including electric heat pumps.
