UK s Jewish Student Union Blasts Reinstatement of Bristol Professor Accused of Antisemitism

A group backed by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel protested the unloading of a container ship. Britain’s Union of Jewish Students and the Bristol Jewish Society said in response to Miller’s reinstatement, “It is with contempt and outrage that we have learned that David Miller and the environment of hate which he creates has returned to campus.” Both groups called on the University of Bristol to “immediately suspend Miller, pending the completion of its investigation.” “Hate has been allowed to fester at Bristol and Vice Chancellor Hugh Brady is ignoring the pleas of his Jewish students in not taking action to suspend Miller,” they added. “It is high time that the university acted to prevent further harassment of its Jewish students, and avoid another mark against the university’s record.”

Bristol Uni VC Hugh Brady slams unfair treatment of students by government

Bristol Uni’s Vice Chancellor Hugh Brady has slammed the government in a statement, saying it’s “unfair that students who have been studying online up until now” cannot come back to campus. In a statement to The Bristol Tab, Brady said that Bristol is “disappointed by the lack of information” from the Department for Education, saying that the whole Russell Group and UUK have “made our unhappiness with the delayed guidance very clear”. Brady also questioned why other sectors of society are allowed to open, such as pubs, shops, and hairdressers, “while [students] continue to be advised against returning to campus where regular testing is now in place.”
