CHILOQUIN, Ore. Six months after Chiloquin Elementary School became a hub for support during the Two Four Two Fire, Oregon s U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley recognized staff with the gift of a flag that flew over the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
The Two Four Two Fire started on September 7 near Collier State Park, growing during the unprecedented Labor Day winds to eventually cover more than 12,500 acres. More than a thousand structures were threatened, with 70 damaged and 35 destroyed.
