ISRO scientists are eagerly waiting for the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover of Chandrayaan-3 to wake up from their 14-day sleep during the lunar night. The solar batteries have been charged fully and the temperature on the lunar surface needs to rise for the wake-up call to be communicated.

ISRO is planning to reestablish communication with its lunar mission Chandrayaan-3s lander Vikram and rover Pragyan as sunlight returns to the Moons south polar region. The lander and rover were put into sleep mode earlier this month to protect them from extremely low temperatures. If revived, the mission could gather additional experimental data, helping to further investigate the Moons surface.

So, if ISRO is able to revive them as the Sun rises on the Moon again, information that is derived from experiments that could once again be conducted by the Chandrayaan-3 payloads would be a bonus.

With dawn breaking on the Moon, ISRO is now gearing up to try to reestablish communication with its lunar mission Chandrayaan-3's solar-powered lander Vikram and rover Pragyan, to revive them so that they can continue with scientific experiments.

Bengaluru, Sep 21 (PTI) With dawn breaking on the Moon, ISRO is now gearing up to try to reestablish communication with its lunar mission Chandrayaan-3's solar-powered lander Vikram and rover Pragyan, to revive them so that they can continue with scientific experiments.

ISRO scientists are eagerly waiting for the Vikram lander and the Pragyan rover of Chandrayaan-3 to wake up from their 14-day sleep during the lunar night, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Singh said Vikram and Pragyan carried out experiments on the lunar surface since they landed on the Moon on August 23 and were put to sleep on September 4 with batteries fully charged and solar panels placed to catch the rays of the sun after the sunrise near the Moons south pole.

As the sun rises once again on the dark side of the moon, the Indian Space Research Organisation is waiting for a signal from Vikram Lander and Pragyaan Rover.
