Entertaining choices abound this weekend in Central New York!
The Midway Drive-In opens for its 73rd consecutive season on Friday, there is a boat show at Sylvan Beach, free bowling for children under 15 at AMF Strike ‘N Spare, and a live lacrosse stick making demonstration at the MOST.
You also have another chance to see the Dino Safari at the State Fairgrounds and one final opportunity to view “I and You” virtually from Syracuse Stage.

NY State Fair Food Fest expands to mini-fair (photos)

What started as a huge response to Pizze Fritte’s popup drive-through on Erie Boulevard in DeWitt last spring has transformed into a micro State Fair. The parking lot next to the Exposition Center at the New York State Fairgrounds brimmed with food vendors and a handful of kid’s rides and games.
This is the fifth week for this year’s incarnation of the food fest. It is set up along the eastern end of the Midway, not too far from both the State Fair Expo Center and traditional location of the Villa Pizze Fritte stand. There is ample parking nearby, so visitors can get out of their cars and walk up. Note that although the CDC’s guidance about mask wearing for fully inoculated people has recently become less restrictive, New York State still mandates mask wearing and social distancing.
