Framingham man arrested after Ashland chase
ASHLAND A Framingham man drew the attention of police by acting suspiciously on Tuesday and then led them on a two-community chase, authorities said.
Police arrested Kendy Medrano, 23, at his 340 Hollis St. home at 9:48 p.m., Police Chief Vincent Alfano said.
Two marked police cruisers, as well as an unmarked cruiser and a plainclothes officer were in the parking lot of McDonald’s on Pond Street. Medrano was walking through the lot, saw the cruisers and jumped into the backseat of his Toyota Corolla and appeared to try to be hiding, even though the officers weren’t there for him.
ASHLAND Police say a Framingham man who was among four arrested Wednesday in connection with a pickup stolen from Worcester faces additional charges involving an armed home invasion earlier that day in Ashland.
Daniel Resende, 21, and a teenage boy were armed with shotguns when they forced their way into a Buckley Avenue home early Wednesday morning and violently robbed a couple in their 70s, authorities said.
Police arrested Resende, 21, on Wednesday, and the teen on Thursday, Police Chief Vincent Alfano said Friday. The teen is a juvenile, so his name was not released.
“This was a good multi-jurisdictional investigation,” said Alfano. “We all worked together to make this happen.”
ASHLAND A truck driver lost control of his truck and drove off an embankment on Main Street Friday, stuck in the cab as it hung precariously close to a fast-moving brook.
But police Lt. Richard Briggs was able to get to the truck, force the door open and get the driver out before the vehicle could fall into Cold Spring Brook, Police Chief Vincent Alfano said Friday.
“The truck was heading toward the river, and it was fast moving,” said Alfano. “The driver was trapped and the truck was being held up by a few branches. If it got loose, it would have ended up in the water and it would have been bad news for the driver.”
ASHLAND – A Hopedale man broke into an Eliot Street home on Friday to try to evade arrest on several warrants and ended up barricading himself in a locked room, police said.
Scott Bolton, 42, briefly escaped from the house, but was quickly caught by Ashland Police dog Ajax, who held the struggling man until his handler Sgt. Chris Alberini and other officers handcuffed him, police Chief Vincent Alfano said.
“He struggled violently, he was hitting the officers and the dog,” the chief said.
Around 3 p.m., a plain-clothed officer saw a possible domestic incident and saw Bolton, who he had been looking for. Bolton was wanted on seven different warrants.
