New Jersey will offer $35 million in federal COVID-19 relief to struggling food and beverage establishments as many seek to expand their indoor and outdoor dining services to customers. It’s off to the races for this year’s Democratic and Republican primaries in New Jersey.
Candidates had to meet a Monday deadline to file petitions to run in the state’s June 8 primary elections. Now the fields are all set in a big election year with the governor’s office and all 120 seats in the state Legislature on the ballot, as well as numerous local races.
The primaries determine who wins the Democratic and Republican nominations to run in the Nov. 3 general election.

Apparently, after adding a controversial amendment to a bill that stalls it, the best way to get it moving again is to add more controversial provisions.
That’s pretty much what happened with a measure that reached Gov. Phil Murphy’s desk yesterday to eliminate mandatory minimums for all non-violent crimes, including for official corruption.
